The Dapple Designs Expert Says:

Acer palmatum var. disssectum is a small, slow-growing deciduous shrub forming a broad, dome of lacy purple or green foliage. In hot summer areas it is best to keep these plants shaded from the afternoon sun. Cut leaf maples make attractive pot specimens and courtyard plants. They are also well suited to Japanese gardens due to its cascading foliage that can be showcased by planting it near a pond or water feature.
